Recipes would be great for those of us who lack that inclination to throw together whatever the market brought in this week! Feel free to just copy & paste a recipe in the “Description” section if you do not have the time to go through the step-by-step process. Thank you very much for your contribution!

Purple Hull Peas

Two pounds of peas makes enough for dinner and storing extra in the freezer. They are worth every minute it takes to prepare them.

Source: Food Network (Entered by Diane Rose)
Serves: 8 servings

Ingredients
2 lbs. fresh purple hull peas (shelled)
2 cloves garlic
1 Tbls. oil or bacon grease
1 1/2 Tsp. salt
1/4 Tsp. pepper
Enough water to cover peas

Step by Step Instructions
  1. Place all ingredients in a large pot over medium heat. Make sure you have enough water to cover the peas with 2 inches of water. After water comes to a boil, cover with lid, reduce heat and simmer for 2 hours. Set your timer for the first hour and check your water level. Add more water if necessary, you want at least 1 inch of water above the peas. Cover with lid, again, and set timer for the next hour.
